I don't understand why people have to be insulting to someone trying to do his job. It makes those people look like assess.

As for the update, the American site doesn't show the update yet, so I'm assuming it hasn't even hit live yet. I've recently logged on to see if it was live, but it isn't. So, the update may not even be official yet. The Smiter's Boon update (which, by the way, will certainly be useless in PvP if this update goes through--I don't PvE much, and I can see that) is only for PvP if I remember correctly, but it may not even be that way when the update goes live.

I'd love to see the Developer's Updates when the update does go live...

But seriously, stop with the insulting the developers, please. It makes you look like an ass.

for 25 energy, 90 second recharge, and 5 second duration, a monk skill should read llike this:

All allies in the area near enchanted ally gain 5..10 health and energy regeneration. Any damage dealt to these players during this time is prevented. When this enchantment ends, all damage prevented during this time is redirected to its source(s).

sort of a smiter's meteor shower if you will

idea:

Smiter's Boon:

For 10 seconds your smiting attributes are increased by 1-5 and your divine favor is set to 0. While under this enchantment, you cannot be targeted by other enchantments.

I'd make Smiter's Boon a maintained enchantment or cause energy-loss upon using a Smiting Prayers spell, just like Divine Boon.

There's nerfing a skill... and then there's nuking a skill with an ICBM.

Anyway, I choose to remain a skeptic until the patch arrives.

That's exactly why stuff should be balanced at first... to avoid it getting killed later on. We've got unusable skills because they were nerfed to oblivion or just never good enough to begin with. Smiter's boon is a skill that deserves to die. No matter what numbers you give to it, or how you tweak it, the only way it can possibly live is if you completely overhaul it.

I mean, it turns things like Reversal of Damage into a 5 energy 90 point heal that prots for up to huge amounts of damage and dishes it back out. How can that possibly be good?

Didn't Anet/Regina etc say that updates are only on a monthly basis now since the "monster" update a few weeks ago?

If so, there shouldn't be any updates until September.

Second, it could be the Smiter's Boon nerf is PvP only, if people are whining about it killing GVG RA TA etc. I personally don't care because I never used this skill.

All this is suspect until www.guildwars.com itself has the update.

Exactly. Rather than give the skill obscenely bad numbers, re-work the skill and give it a different function instead.

2 minutes of thought and consideration would be all that was necessary. Mind you, it isn't set in stone yet.

There as been a Dragon-like emote texture sitting in the .DAT for some time now.

25e 5dur 90 recharge
5e 30 dur 10 recharge

6x5x9 = 270. Tru, the BIGGEST nerf GW has ever seen.

How about Exhaustion? It would be 2700 (exhaustion is temporary -10 energy) less effective. Or 6x7x9= 379. But it was no exhaustion before, so it'd be technically worse than just 35 energy.

I don't think you quite understand me.

When I say it needs to be overhauled, I mean just that. The new Smiter's Boon would be nothing like the old one, because the underlying mechanic is flawed,

Funny, I just discovered the power of this skill when I was vanquishing with H/H last night. It would be so easy to balance it's crazy.
Reduce healing boost to 33% and increase cost to 10 energy and 1 sec cast time. 3 nerfs should be enough. Not leet anymore and still useful.

Or make it a maintained enchanment or where you lose 1 or 2 energy every time you cast a spell targeting your teamate.

Smiter's Boon went from imbalanced being overpowered to 10*imbalanced being way way way underpowered.

The most (negatively) imba skill so far.
